Michigan Lottery Wants To Honor Educators Who Make A Difference

I have to believe that some of the people I have worked with over the years in broadcasting could have probably, or would've probably been elected as the "Class Clown" in school.

I don't know why I would've ever gotten that impression, but that's the gut feeling I've gotten with some over the years. Now, believe me when I tell you I'm not referring to myself. I was always the perfect angel when I was in the educational system.

Okay, maybe not a perfect angel, but I wasn't the "Class Clown". Well at least I never won that election. I may have got a nomination...or two...

Witnessing first hand the sacrifices and the time that many of mine and my kids teachers have put in over the years, I've always gotten the impression especially looking back at what a big job being and educator is, at all levels.

There are plenty of challenges for both educators and students in a regular classroom setting. That's a given. But I can't even imagine what it is like trying to conduct a virtual class during a pandemic for students who are all at different levels of comprehension and let's face it, interest.

And let's not forget the students who have to be really focused in this new learning environment to succeed. It seems that it's gotten a lot more complicated on both sides of the educational process. Still, many students persevere as do many teachers who make a difference in the lives of their students and that is where the Michigan Lottery comes in.

The Michigan Lottery is currently seeking nominations of outstanding public school educators for their "2020-21 Excellence in Education" awards. Each week the winning educator will win a cash prize for themselves and their classroom and there is also a big annual prize.
