WILX.com is reporting that lawmakers in the Michigan House have voted to tap into the wallets of motorcyclists in the state. The proposal would increase original endorsement fees by $2.50 to $16. Renewal fees would go up $2 to $7, while annual registration taxes would also increase by $2 to $25.

According to the report, the legislation would allow for the creation of the Motorcycle Safety Awareness Fund. The dollars would be put towards an increase of education when it comes to motorcycle safety.

The passed bill still needs approval from the Michigan Senate.
