Negative Reviews of the Michigan Renaissance Festival That Made Us Actually LOL
The Michigan Renaissance Festival kicked off on August 21st, 2021 and goes every weekend until October 2nd. To many, it's their favorite time of the year, to others it's something they experienced and immediately took to the internet to complain about.
If the Renaissance is Your Thing...
I've said it before and I will absolutely die on this hill, renaissance-themed things or medieval-themed things just really are not my...thing. I don't know why, it just makes me uncomfy.
However, I do think the Michigan Renaissance Festival is pretty cool in that is is just over an entire month of people gathering to celebrate history, fantasy, and something that they just-plain love.
How can I hate on that?

Pro Tips on the Michigan Renaissance Festival
As someone who religiously Googles every event, restaurant, etc. I go to before I go just to make sure I have something to be excited for, I've learned you have to look at the best reviews along with the negative ones and making your own judgements.
If the Renaissance Festival seems like something you would enjoy, by all means, do not let these negative reviews stop you.
However, there are a few things you could keep in mind from them:
- There's a lot of mud, dress accordingly.
- The bathrooms are port-a-pottys (no running toilets in the renaissance, true to the theme, right?)
- Cleavage is commonplace...you wear a corset and tell me you won't have at least a little somethin-somethin...be an adult.
- No outside food or drink
- Use your discretion as a parent when it comes to bringing the kiddos.
With that being said, go, embrace it, enjoy it, try something new or continue to have fun with something you're super into. Like we say, "to each their own."
