Michigan Will Feast On This On Memorial Day Weekend
The three day, Memorial Day weekend is almost here. There will be a lot of people traveling throughout Michigan to visit friends and family. Many will pay their respects and honor the brave men and women that sacrificed their lives for our country. Afterall, that's what Memorial Day is all about. If you would like to attend a Memorial Day event in the mid Michigan area there are many events happening.

Parades, Fireworks, Markets & More
With any 3 day weekend comes the plans to hang out, grill and let loose. In years past we have enjoyed throwing parties at our place. The planning that went into it was pretty simple. Provide food, some beverages and try not to forget anything. Thankfully if we ever did forget something a friend or two would check in before they arrived to ask "what'd you forget?".
Five Things You'll Forget This Memorial Day
If you've hosted or attended a get together on a holiday weekend you might agree that the menus are very similar. Lots of grilled meats, salads, fruit, vegetables, baked beans and potato chips. Is this just a Michigan thing?
Memorial Day Weekend Food You'll Most Likely Eat
Fruit & Veggie Tray - you don't have to make it fancy, snag a premade one at the store and keep it cool.
Salsa - chips and salsa appeals to most folks.
Pasta Salad - a good chilled pasta salad is awesome on hot days. You'll eat it.
Potato Salad - yes, it will be served. Are you a mustard potato salad lover or plain and simple.
Baked Beans - people love them. Their easy to keep warm, put them in the crock pot and let them sit.
Corn on the Cob - kids love it, however it's really inconvenient to eat in my opinion.
Watermelon - it'd be insane to not serve this or eat it at someone elses bbq.
Burgers - yup, you will eat a burger for sure.
Hot Dogs - kids love these and adults tend to take them right off the grill and eat them.
Jello Salad - why? Unless you keep it cool it gets soupy. If you are really determined to serve jello, serve it in individual cups as seen above. It's still served. We don't serve this at our get togethers. I will end up eating some this weekend at our friend's house, no question.
