Yesterday, July 28th, was Miracle Treat Day at participating Dairy Queen locations throughout the United States. Dairy Queen raises money to support their local Children's Miracle Network hospitals.

We are blessed to have a Children's Miracle Network hospital at Sparrow. Al and his team at the Dairy Queen in Grand Ledge have been proud supporters of CMN and that continued again this week.

The first time I went to the DQ in Grand Ledge was a couple of years ago. We had gone mini golfing at Funtyme and wanted to get some grub so we went to Dairy Queen. The food was good, of course the ice cream was great but what stood out to me, and why I go back to the DQ in GL, was the way Al (owner) communicated with his staff.

Al treated his staff with respect and like a kind human being. When I spoke with him yesterday I shared that with him.

Al's response was awesome:

Isn't that what we're supposed to do?

You bet Al. I have mad respect for an owner that treats their employees the way that Al does. That's why my family and I will drive nearly 20 miles from Okemos to Grand Ledge to support his business.

It's refreshing to see a local business owner get behind such a great cause. The event was a blast. For every blizzard sold DQ donated $1 to CMN and for every cake sold they donated $5. Well done Al and your team was amazing.

The 2022 Miracle Child, Brooke, was on hand to. Brooke and I made a deal. If she came out to get her face painted, I'd let her paint my face anything she wanted to, she chose a unicorn. Brooke did an amazing job.

Sick children are warriors. Let's continue to do our part to support CMN and warriors like Brooke.
