This past weekend my friends and I got together for a "girls day." We had the snacks, the drinks and everything else covered so I was in charge of the most important part...the playlist!

I will admit, I have a very wide range when it comes to my music taste and some of the songs featured on my "Lady Jams" playlist are not only not radio-friendly but are especially not classic-rock-fan-friendly.

However, I do know the value of a good variety so here are some of the classic rock showstoppers featured in the mix! This is in no particular order, just ones I added as I saw them, enjoy.

1. AC/DC - "She's Got Balls"

I like to think i'm a pretty "ballsy" gal. Sure, I keep my looks and my style pretty girly but don't ever doubt my ability to "hang with the guys." If you've ever met or ever do meet my dad, it's pretty clear how I turned out the way I did. This song makes me feel like a real tough lady who is proud as hell of her metaphorical balls.

2. Queen - "Fat Bottomed Girls"

Some people may see this song as offensive but in reality, our society has transitioned to appreciating a good booty! This song will always make my friends and I feel real good about ourselves and we will dance in ways that nobody should ever see...we like to dance, but that doesn't necessarily mean we're good at it.

3. Heart - "Crazy On You"

This is one of those songs that makes me desperately wish I was a better singer and could blow everyone away at a karaoke night. However, I am not a great singer and therefore will settle and be perfectly happy with screaming this from the rooftops with my gal pals.

4. Fleetwood Mac - "Go Your Own Way"

Now while this one is not the most "sexy" song or anything along the lines of something to shake it to, it is a great one if your friends either have a lot of relationship problems or are recently single. This came on during our "Galentine's Day" festivities where two out of the four of us in attendance were single and I've never seen my friends sing with so much passion. It's a good, empowering jam.

4. Aerosmith - "Rag Doll"

"Rag Doll" has always been one of my favorite songs. Despite the obvious jokes you can make about it, it is catchy, it is insanely fun to dance to and I don't know about anyone else but being referred to as a "cutie" never hurt anyone!

5. Pat Benatar - "Heartbreaker"

My mom was a singer in college and one of her favorite artists is Pat Benetar. When I tell you Jennifer Mossolle can sing, I mean she can SING...especially when it's Pat she's singing along to. I always have this one on my playlist because it makes me feel like a bada** and it's one that's mom approved! (Which even at 23 I try to keep it classy for my mom...sometimes)

6. Joan Jett - "Bad Reputation"

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a little (or a lot) of angst thrown into the mix for a ladies night! Going back to the "keep it classy for my mom" part...this is the one that made me throw in the "sometimes." Will I jump around and possibly break things to this song? The answer is always "maybe."

7. Stevie Nicks - "Edge of Seventeen"

If your friends won't belt along to some Stevie Nicks with you, you need to find better friends.

9. The Hollies - "Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress)

I've brought up my obsession with binge-watching America's Next Top Model and if you ever want to see my "model strut" this is the song I do it to the most. It puts a lot of pep in my step and is a great song to make all of your lady friends do the same!

10. Guns N' Roses - Paradise City

You want to go "where the grass is green and the girls are pretty"? Well it's right wherever you and your ladies are doing it up! While this song isn't really about empowering women or anything, when you grew up loving classic rock this one is on there!
