You don't take the food truck, the food truck comes to you

For the 'Walking Taco' food truck owner, the old saying 'no good deed goes unpunished' rang true for him on Friday night. According to the Morning Sun, the food truck owner stopped by the Blackstone Bar to drop off leftover food from the evening to give to the bar staff.

As he was inside, a bar staffer saw the truck pulling away and asked if the man's wife was in the truck, she wasn't. The truck owner got outside just in time to see his truck speeding down the road and sparks coming from where it was dragging a grill, it was stopped by police less than a block from where he'd parked it.

The thief, 21 year old Zachary Jenkins was immediately arrested and read his rights. When asked why he stole the truck, his only response was...wait for it...

"I'm a dumbass."

That was Jenkins statement to the police. Jenkins was given field sobriety tests at the Isabella County Jail,  and he failed every single one. That includes when he was asked to pick a number between 13 and 15. According to the police report, Jenkins picked 12.

The good news is that the food truck was insured, but the bad news is that damage to the vehicle is over  $1,000.

Zachary Jenkins was arraigned Friday on, and here are the charges he faces...

  • Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated
  • Operating a Vehicle While on High BAC
  • Property Damage of between $1,000-$20,000
  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle.

Believe it or not Jenkins is not currently held at the Isabella County Jail.
