15 Breathtaking Natural Springs You Need To Visit In Michigan

Michigan is home to the Great Lakes and thousands of inland lakes, but there's more water to be found. Check out these 15 natural springs in our state.

In the 90's "spring water" became popular. Sure, there were brands of spring water you could buy, then all of a sudden there were multiple options for brands to buy. According to Wikipedia, the first bottle of water produced was in 1622. In the '70s, brands like Perrier produced sparkling natural spring water. I am a fan of sparkling water. When I quit drinking alcohol, Perrier was a good go-to for me. I'll drink some sparkling water occasionally nowadays, but not like I did in the past because it makes me bloated. I need to fit in my pants.

Natural spring water comes from springs. I wasn't clear on what a natural spring was, so I did some googling. This is what I found out, according to mysuwanneeriver.com:

Springs occur when water pressure causes a natural flow of groundwater onto the earth's surface. As rainwater enters or "recharges" the aquifer, pressure is placed on the water already present. This pressure moves water through the cracks and tunnels within the aquifer, and this water flows out naturally to the surface at places called springs.

Natural springs are a great source of clean water. You can drink the water right out of the natural spring. In my experience with natural springs, the water was cold, however, there are some hot springs you can visit that won't freeze you.

I'm all for pools and lakes, but if I get the chance or choice, I'm going to visit a natural spring. There are plenty of natural springs throughout the state of Michigan, and we even have some that aren't too far from us in Lansing.

Clean, natural water is hard to find. Enjoy your travels throughout our state visiting these cool places. I wouldn't bring a bunch of water bottles to fill up, but I would definitely stick my cupped hand in the water to taste the best water on Earth.
