It's not the Ovid-Elsie Elementary school that's closed through Nov. 8, it's the Ovid-Elsie High School that will be closed due to a serious COVID-19 outbreak.

So now Ovid-Elsie High school students will have to take classes remotely while they all wait patiently to go back to school beginning Nov. 9.

And it's not just several students who have tested positive for COVID-19, several staff members are in quarantine who have test positive as well.

On a personal note, I really like Ovid-Elsie because it's a very nice town to either live in or to visit. My wife graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School back in 1985.

In fact, my wife Lori played on the girls basketball team and they did very well.

I've been to Ovid-Elsie many times because my wife has family in that area. I can't tell you how many times we had dinner at the Ovid Cafe. A very popular restaurant in that neck of the woods.

So now with Ovid-Elsie High School being closed through Nov. 8, will they still participate in their playoff game?

According to the Lansing State Journal:

The district is leaving it up to parents whether they allow their children to participate in extracurriculars. That includes Friday's first-round playoff football game against Millington.

These are crazy times that we're dealing with and quite honestly, even with the COVID-19 vaccinations being distributed, there's still no guarantee on whether you will get the COVID-19 virus or not.

The Lansing State Journal also tells us:

Ovid-Elsie is the second high school to close in the last week due to a spike in COVID-19 cases. Lansing School District's Sexton High School closed on Thursday and Friday after more than 200 students may have been exposed to an unspecified number of students and staff who tested positive for the coronavirus.

Best of luck to students and staff members at Ovid-Elsie High School!
