Petition Halts New Lansing Medical Marihuana Ordinance
WLNS.com reports that a petition has been filed with Lansing City Clerk Chris Swope that looks to halt the city's new medical marihuana ordinance approved by City Council in September. The filing comes just hours before the ordinance was set to take effect on Saturday morning.
The petition filing temporarily stops the ordinance while Swope has 15 days to review the signatures turned in. If found valid, the petition seeks to put an ordinance in front of city voters. Meanwhile, the city falls back on the previously approved ordinance, in which the biggest difference sets the number of dispensaries in the city to 48 facilities. The new ordinance caps that number at 25.
