"All politics are local" goes the saying; today's primary is a prime example.

The polls opened at 7:00 this morning in Michigan’s primary election. Please don’t skip this one – there are SO many important people and issues to sort. Our right to vote was earned by the blood, sweat, tears and lives of countless who’ve gone before us.

It matters which candidates will face off in November. It matters if we choose to fund new projects for our community schools, libraries and jails. East Lansing has a big income tax question on the ballot which will affect residents of that city, as well as everyone who works there, including MSU employees.

If you’re not positive where to vote or what might be on the ballot, you can go to the Secretary of State website here.

And if you’re in need of a ride there, CATA will offer free bus rides to the polls today – you just need to show the bus driver a valid voter’s registration card.

Remember to bring a valid ID with you to show at the polling station when you get there today.
