After I saw this story and read the headline, I couldn't help but laugh. Incredibly hard. A stretch of highway in Michigan that was recently redone with new cement has to be reconstructed after it was discovered that contractors had used the wrong type of pavement in the construction. The Michigan Department of Transportation announced yesterday that the two left lanes of northbound I-75 between 13 1/2 Mile and 14 Mile Roads, and the shoulders on the exit ramps to Big Beaver and Rochester Roads will all have to be replaced, according to Fox 2.

I grew up right around this area and it has been a disaster for the last 2-3 years, and this just tacks onto the disaster time. MDOT actually credits the inspectors for catching the problem now before it actually became a liability once drivers start regularly using the lanes. MDOT Metro Region Engineer Kimberly Avery stated the issue isn't an immediate threat: "This is inspectors doing their jobs. The pavement designated for replacement is safe for drivers to use, but the long-term durability is compromised and the reason for our actions."
