ROADSIDE MICHIGAN: The Underground Wine Caves, Traverse City
Here is a place you should seek out next time you travel north...the Underground Wine Caves of the Mari Vineyards on the Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City.
These "caves" are ten feet underground, providing the perfect place to barrel-age their wines. It is Michigan's very first winery to feature such an impressive underground aging area.
This is a very cool place to stop for tasting, touring and buying! The caverns are the best part of a tour, and the Oculus you'll come across is like something you would see in a scary movie.
Check out the photos below and definitely pay a visit to the Mari Winery & Vineyards next time you head north!
Mari Vineyards is located at 8175 Center Road, Traverse City.
