The Lansing State Journal reports that Ford Motor Company is recalling some 680,000 vehicles over a potential seat belt issue. The company is looking at a potential overheating problem within the front seat belt pre-tensioners that can cause cables contained within the unit to break, resulting in a potential front seat belt failure.

The recall affects some 2013-2016 Ford Fusions, 2013-2015 Lincoln MKZs, and 2015-2016 Ford Mondeos. Ford will notify owners of the recall, which is expected to begin in mid-January. No known injuries are tied to the malfunction.
