A West Michigan organization is stepping up to help pets in need after the devastating fires in Maui, and this is how how you can help them from home

A pet foundation in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is coming to the rescue of stranded strays following Hurricane Ian.

Almost 40 shelters in Michigan will be participating in the Bissell Foundation's "Empty the Shelters" event, starting Monday, December 6th and running for two weeks.

Over 4,000 animals were placed in homes in the previous Empty the Shelters.

Reduced adoption fees will be available with some area animal shelters. Typically, it's a one-day event. But, it will be held for multiple days to allow adoptions by appointment.
