Christmas time is here and that means it's time to shop for cool toys for the kids. Sure, Meijer, Target and Wal Mart have a good toy deparment, there are plenty of other options when it comes to finding the perfect gift for the kiddo in your life.

A few months ago I wrote about awesome hobby shops in mid Michigan. When I was a kid I used to love going to the local hobby shop and perusing the inventory and making a list of what I wanted for Christmas. Hobby shops rule.

It really depends on what kind of gift you want to give the child in your life. I've been looking for an HO train set to gift my kids, a hobby shop is a good place to find one. If your child is into gaming, Pokemon, sports or Star Wars, you won't run out of options to find the ideal gift.

Be the parent that pulls the trigger on that awesome gift. If the gift fits your budget, buy the gift. We only have so many Christmas' we get to spend with our kids, buy the gift. It recently hit me and humbled me that my son is ten years old, my bonus son is fourteen. There's a strong chance that the kids will be on their own in the next 8 years, I am going to take advantage of every Christmas until then, I hope you do the same.
