Three Waverly Schools Placed On Lockdown
Reports from LSJ.com and WLNS.com indicate that three schools in the Waverly Community School district have been placed on lockdown Friday afternoon as law enforcement officials comb the area for a suspect.
Waverly High School, The Waverly Middle School, and Winans Elementary have all been placed on "shelter-in-place" mode as Eaton County Sheriff Deputies search for an individual reportedly involved in a retail fraud case at the Meijer on West Saginaw Highway.
According to the WLNS.com story, the suspect was allegedly spotted by loss prevention officials at the store breaking into a locked case and making way with products from the electronics department. Deputies arrived at the store, spotted the suspect attempting to flee by car before crashing into a tree near Michigan Avenue and Mall Drive West. The suspect then fled on foot into a neighborhood adjacent to the three schools.
