WILX.com reports that Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids has had its liquor license temporarily suspended by the Michigan Liquor Control Commision.

For the next four games, beer, wine and cocktails will not be sold in the arena after an operation by the Grand Rapids Police Department showed that while concessions workers were checking vertical driver's licenses, the ID's were not being validated.

As a result, arena officials have implemented new policies for concessions staff and volunteers to prevent future incidents from taking place, once the liquor license is reinstated by the state.
