You thought your family did some weird stuff for the holidays. Turns out it was just the liquor. There are some truly weird, wild, and wacky stories and traditions from around the world. Some I'm pretty sure you've never heard of. And this has got to be one of them. Maybe headed to the top of the list.

I just heard about the magic that is the Christmas pickle a few years back.

I was today years old when I discovered the story of The Tió de Nadal.

This story and Christmas tradition comes from Spain (Catalonia). (Wikipedia)

It involves a hollowed out log that is equipped with legs. Painted with a face and given a hat. It is to be fed and covered with a blanket to keep it warm. All this starts on December 8th and culminates on Christmas Eve. (Wikipedia)

You keeping track so far? We're feeding a dressed up hollowed out log and keeping it warm until Christmas.

But wait, there's more.

On Christmas Day/Eve kids are given sticks to beat the log and the log is placed partially in a fireplace and it's ordered to defecate presents.

That's right. The kids beat the log they been feeding for days and now it's being ordered to poop presents.

Also, after it's done pooping it's Christmas booty (see what we did there?) it's thrown into the fire and burned for firewood.

Didn't we just feed this thing, paint it, and cover it with a blanket.

There is even a fun and festive song (Caga tió!) that is sung during the log beating festivities which loosely translates to poop log (and I'm cleaning it up because it really translates to "s**t log").

Peep the video above for the story. Head HERE to read it for yourself.

And that song?

***Content Warning*** (Please forgive the fart jokes therein and the actual language in the lyrics provided below)

"Caga tió,
caga torró,
avellanes i mató,
si no cagues bé
et daré un cop de bastó.
caga tió!"
shit, log,
shit nougats (turrón),
hazelnuts and mató cheese,
if you don't shit well,
I'll hit you with a stick,
shit, log!
