Last year was my first year being a parent to a child with Down Syndrome. When World Down Syndrome day arrived last year, I really didn't know about any of this.

My friend Kody Slaght works at Kia of Lansing. Last year, all the Young dealerships rocked socks in honor of Kody's daughter Taytum. I was moved to tears to see all these people, some had never met Kody, let alone Taytum, all showed off their socks and support on social media. It was beautiful. I felt bad I didn't do anything.

This year, the Capital Area Down Syndrome is raffling off a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro. Tickets are $150 but there are only 350 being sold. So, chances of winning are great AND you are helping a great cause. If you would like one call 517-333-6655. Next Wednesday, they raffle off the car. If enough tickets aren't sold for the car, it becomes a 50/50.

Another way to show support, is ROCK THOSE COLORFUL SOCKS on Wednesday 3/21. If you do, use the hastag #lotsofsocks.
