Community Service? Or Cash?

Earlier this year, Michigan Lawmakers passed a bill that phases out Drivers' Responsibility Fees by 2019. You know, those steep fines for misplacing your proof of insurance or forgetting your drivers' license. While those are set to be done and over with in the next five years, you now have an alternative to fulfill your obligation until then. According to this article at mlive.com, Governor Rick Snyder has signed a bill that allows "offenders" to pay their societal debt with time instead of cash. But, don't be fooled! If you opt for the 10 hours of community service, you will still be responsible for a standard $125 fee to reinstate your license.
