Earlier this year, Michigan Lawmakers passed a bill that phases out Drivers' Responsibility Fees by 2019. According to this article at mlive.com, Governor Rick Snyder has signed a bill that allows "offenders" to pay their societal debt with time instead of cash. But, don't be fooled! If you opt for the 10 hours of community service, you will still be responsible for a standard $125 fee to reinstate your license.
