The Robocop statue, which began as a Kickstarter project in 2011, will finally become a permanent feature in Downtown Detroit in 2021.  Or at least that's what is being reported by the Detroit Free Press.

In 2011, Twitter users started to petition the Detroit Mayor about getting a lifesize Robocop statue installed downtown.  But, after not finding any backing politically, several people turned to Kickstarter and got the project 100% crowdfunded.  After the goal was met, production began and after years of hard work, it finally seems to be paying off.

The project is finally nearing completion and is expected to be installed by March of next year.  The final statue is made completely of bronze and stands 11 feet tall and will be installed outside of the Michigan Science Center located at 5020 John R St in Detroit.
