We've heard of "Festivus" for the rest of us. A day filled with the airing of grievances and feats of strength.

But a lesser known tradition of my people, is "Nueve de Mayo." The ninth of May. The day where the piñatas and inflatable beer bottles, are absconded by young people and turned into poolside decor and objects of idol worship by drunken summer breakers!

Some.are easier to conceal than others. In this case, a young couple was spotted going northbound on Pennsylvania Avenue in Lansing, probably en route to a "Nueve" party of some sort.

So remember, the next time you see your local cantina or party store festooned with Cinco de Mayo decorations, there is another smaller, yet just as fun, event about to take place.

Stay vigilant mís amigos!
