Battle Creek Man Arrested For DUI After Hitting 5 Parked Cars
Battle Creek police arrested a man for DUI after he allegedly hit 5 parked vehicles, some with occupants including a newborn.
Battle Creek police were called at 12:58 p.m. Tuesday to the 2100 block of West Columbia Avenue on multiple reports of a pick-up truck striking mailboxes on 31st Street then 5 vehicles parked at Meijer, Big Boy Restaurant and Mancino's.
There were no injuries but two of the vehicles were occupied. One of the occupants included a newborn child, according to the Battle Creek Enquirer.
A witness was then able to approach the pick-up truck and secure the keys before the alleged suspect could flee.
Police said the man had a blood/alcohol level of 0.249 percent. Drivers with a .08 percent level are considered intoxicated in Michigan. The man told officers he did not remember the crashes. He was taken to Bronson Battle Creek for treatment of minor injuries. His 13-year-old black Labrador dog was taken to the Calhoun County Animal Center.
