Breaking: Bryce Harper To Sign With Phillies

MLB Network's Jon Heyman is first to report that free agent outfielder Bryce Harper is nearing an agreement to join the Philadelphia Phillies.

Heyman's tweet from Thursday afternoon:

With Manny Machado signing last week with the San Diego Padres, Harper was the biggest free agent name left.  No official word yet on contract numbers, but ESPN's Jeff Passan tweets:

Harper hit .249 with 34 home runs and 100 runs batted in for the Washington Nationals in 2018.
