Today is National Kitten Day so we asked our lovely Lansing listeners to "show us your kitties" and that they did!

Remember when the internet was basically just for silly videos and pictures of cats? (RIP Grumpy Cat, Keyboard Cat, etc.) Well today we have the chance to get back to our roots and celebrate these fluffy lil' bundles of joy...and sass.

According to National Day Calendar, here is what National Kitten Day is really all about:

"The day aims to remind us that while kittens are well equipped to find their way into our hearts, many don’t find homes. They’re abandoned at shelters, on the side of the road or wild and feral. Spaying and neutering our pets, including our cats, is vital to their health and keeping the stray population down."

My best friend just got a kitten a few weeks ago from the Jackson County Animal Shelter and I've been obsessed.

She is such a little spitfire, they gave her a bit of a more sophisticated name at first, naming her "Minerva" ("Minnie" for short) after Professor McGonagall from the "Harry Potter" series, they ended up naming her "Stitch" after her high energy reminded them of the little blue alien from Disney's "Lilo and Stitch."

It is safe to say kittens have a special place in our hearts that grows as they do into big, cat-sized spots.

So get ready to make like Carole Baskin and say, "Hey all you cool cats and kittens" to some of Lansing's finest!
