‘Danger: Do Not Touch Lever’ Temptation

Boarding the plane from Minneapolis to Lansing I couldn't help but stare at the object to my left - a giant sized lever that warned of 'Danger' and told me not to touch it - that's all I wanted to do!!! It looked like a display, to test my willpower! Obviously I resisted or I wouldn't have made it to work today, having been tackled by any number of law enforcement entities.

Throwing around wild speculation, does the lever separate the bridge from the plane? One of you out there must know the answer.
