A few weeks ago, my Dad told me of an encounter that he had with a cougar one night in his yard in Laingsburg (Clinton County). Having lived and hunted my whole life in Michigan, I couldn't grasp the concept of one being in the Lower Peninsula. Well, at 74 years old, he's as sharp as a tack and now, I have no doubt what he saw was real!

The Michigan DNR has confirmed the first sighting of a cougar (Mountain Lion, etc) in Michigan's Lower Peninsula is indeed real. And given the location of the sighting to the location of my dad's property, I now believe 100% that what he saw, was real as well.
