Former City Councilman Joins Lansing’s Mayoral Race

WILX.com is reporting that forme Lansing City Councilman Harold Leeman has officially filed his papers to run for city mayor in 2017. Despite facing a felony charge for embezzlement, Leeman has made his candidacy official. The charge is reportedly linked to a position he worked at in the Lansing Parks System.

Leeman was defeated by Mayor Virg Bernero in 2013, after losing his city council in 2011 that he had held for 12 years. He joins City Councilwoman Judi Browne Clarke and State Representative Andy Schor in the race for mayor after Bernero announced that he would not run for another term as mayor.
