Holt Schools Will Be Watching If You Drive Past A Stopped Bus

If it feels like someone is watching you, you're probably right. Especially in Holt. And if you drive past a stopped school bus that's off loading kids, new stop arm cameras are going to catch you.

Holt Public Schools have added a new tool in hopes to stop drivers from passing school buses.

Cameras are now mounted on the stop arm of Holt buses. The cameras are set up to photograph high definition photos of any vehicles passing. The photos will be able to show the driver, vehicle and license plate. (WILX)

And you might think you got away with it. But law enforcement officials say they can use that footage to issue citations. And issue some hefty fines.

Those who pass stopped school buses may be charged with civil infractions carrying a civil fine of between $100 and $500 an up to $100 in costs. Violators may also be required to perform up to 100 hours of community service at a school. (Patch)
