I didn't know much about Autism until we had our daughter, Nugget. She has Down Syndrome and many of the learning groups we attend have children that have Autism. My daughter has grown up being used to kids screaming and having fits around her. It would have jarred me as a kid. She seems very used to it and the meltdowns have not been picked up by her. A lot of times, she will just watch with a concerned look.

I am happy she is exposed to this. A lot of these kids are very nice, something just sets them off. They deserve to be accepted. They deserve to be around other children. They will not get any better if they are pushed into dark corners.

I am still learning a lot. As my daughter learns. We support all our friends with Autism and appreciate the different colors they have brought into our lives.
