There's a castle tucked away in Mid-Michigan that gets absolutely decked out in lights and holiday cheer every year. And what's more is that it's free to check it out.

Up in Canadian Lakes (which is west of Mount Pleasant and southeast of Big Rapids) sits The Castle in Canadian Lakes.

It's a property that's owned and maintained by the Canadian Lakes Property Owners Corporation. The Castle is host to many events throughout the year, like weddings and more, but perhaps none as magical as its annual Nights of Lights.

Mid-Michigan Castle Covered in Christmas Lights

Every year this dreamy chateau is covered with over 100,000 LED lights which are then synced to festive holiday music. It really is a sight to behold.

And the best part... it's completely free!

If you want to join in on the fun, all you need is a vehicle pass, which is completely free. You'll just want to make sure you reserve one well in advance. Plus, while you're visiting, there are vendors on site serving up food and hot cocoa.

The Nights of Lights take place every Friday and Saturday from November 23rd to January 4th, so even if you can't check them out before Christmas, you have time after the new year.
