As reported by the Lansing State Journal, Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero has proposed a budget for coming fiscal year that has a surplus of just over two million dollars, which he wants to tuck into the 'rainy day' fund.

The mayor says that there is about $4 million in the budget for road repairs. Sounds like that unless a road is "horrific", it won't get redone, which costs about a million dollars per mile to rip up and redo; it will simply get a patch or twelve.
