Father's Day is this Sunday, June 18th. Have you planned anything special for your dad this weekend? Dad's throughout the Lansing area are looking forward to Father's Day and they have spoken, dad's do not want a tie.

If this is the first time you've heard of Father's Day, let Wikipedia explain it to you:

Father's Day is a holiday honoring one's father, or relevant father figure, as well as fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. The single most common date among world countries is the third Sunday of June, which was founded in the state of Washington, United States, by Sonora Smart Dodd in 1910.

I think the key word here, much like Mother's Day, is "figure". A man can step into a fatherly role in many situations. It could be a dad that becomes a fatherly figure to other kids when he coaches a team. It could be a man that has inspired a youngster to do their absolute best in life and they look to that man as a role model.

For me, being a dad is the best job on the face of the planet. I never thought I would be a dad. Thankfully I was blessed with a son in 2012. That dude is now 10 and growing up really fast. If I could slow down time, I would. Parents told me to buckle up because the ride is fast, it's only 18 years. They were one hundred percent right.

This Father's Day, the only thing I want is to spend time with my kids. I am also fortunate to have a 14 year old bonus son. We do a lot together and I look forward to tossing the ball in the yard, going to a baseball game and throwing something on the grill.
