Plans to build a community soccer field in Downtown Lansing's Ferris Park is one big step closer to a reality. Last month, Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero announced his crowdfunding campaign, looking to raise $60 Thousand. The plans for the park call for a synthetic turf, complete with kickboards and solar lighting. The best part about the plan for residents is that there will be no charge to use Beacon Field.

With the $60 Thousand dollars raised through the crowdfund, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation will match that amount. The City of Lansing will foot the remaining money for the estimated $200 Thousand dollar project.
