Mait’s Greats: Favorite Christmas Album
As I move further and further into adulthood, I notice the "Christmas spirit" I used to feel and love around the holidays has dwindled. This album changed that!
Even at 23 years old, I understand the holidays and the deeper meanings of the season more, but I constantly long for the days of counting down until Christmas, helping my mom wrap gifts, making Christmas cookies and going out just to drive around and look at everyone's lights.
The holidays had lost their "magic" for me as I became an adult, moved two hours away from my loved ones and just got so busy that I was more focused on cramming in my gift shopping than stopping and enjoying my favorite season.
Well, while listening to my Christmas playlist recently, I heard again the album I somehow forgot I added years ago and it sparked that feeling of Christmas joy!
That album would be none other than Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Christmas Time Again."
Sure, Christmas albums are supposed to be a little corny and goofy, but this one really got me!
Original tracks like "Skynyrd Family" make me dance while I drive (fun, but not recommended) and look forward to driving all around town to see all sides of my big, fun family.
Even covers of the classics like "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" has its own Skynyrd twist that satisfies the classic rock lover in me as well as that inner child I'd been missing! And it features The Charlie Daniels Band!
To me there is nothing better than a "Skynyrd Family Christmas Time"
