Where Does Michigan Rank When It Comes To Sunny States In United States?

World Population Review employs nerds that like to tally up data. To determine the sunniest states in the United States, this is how they measured it:

The data includes the 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia. Hawaii and Alaska were not included in the data set from the CDC. Values in the data are average annual sunlight totals expressed in kilojoules per square meter (kJ/m^2). Kilojoules are a unit of measure for energy.

Michigan Ranks #35 on The Sunniest States List

This makes sense. We have A LOT OF CLOUDY DAYS! The Kilojoules per square meter in Michigan are 4,018. Compare that to Arizona, the sunniest state, they have 5,755.

If you need more sun, it might be time to move. We love our state of Michigan but she doesn't have any control over the weather.
