The British star had been battling dementia for the last three years.

Terry Jones, one of the stars of Monty Python, has passed away at the age of 77.

Jones was diagnosed with dementia in 2014 and, as of November of last year, his costar Michael Palin said that he was "not doing terribly well."

He passed away last night with his wife Anna by his side. The family thanked the medical professionals who made his last few years "not only bearable but often joyful." He wasn't able to speak towards the end of his life.

Jones had a rare form of dementia called FTD, also known as frontotemporal dementia.

Thanks for the laughs, Mr. Jones.
