It's been a point of contention since Matthew Stafford to join an actual successful football team: should Lions fan root for him or not?

It really doesn't matter to me, and I'll be very happy for him if he wins the NFL's big prize. But if the Rams lose, I'll be happy for Joe Burrow and Bengals, too.

In other words, I don't have a dog in that fight, at least until I place my bets on FanDuel.

But Lions fans have dug in and taken a position on whether to cheer for Stafford or not, battling to the last word on social media channels.

Jim Kerfoot has been pumping out parody ads based on the award winning "Pure Michigan" ads since Tim Allen voiced that first emotional spot way back in 2008.

His latest creation takes a pretty healthy shot at Matthew Stafford fans, and as always with Jim's effort, whether it's funny or not depends on your ability to laugh at yourself.

Can you?

Let's find out.

If this rubs you the wrong way, lighten up, and remember that Matthew still loves you.

And besides, if we can't laugh at ourselves, who can we laugh at? Wait. Don't answer that.

This was my favorite part of the video. I tried to find one of the jerseys online, and this was the closest I got. This one is a little more hopeful, tying in the whole Journey "born and raised in South Detroit" crap.

Good luck, Matthew, we'll be rooting for you like the pathetic losers we are. If you win can I stay in your LA mansion next time I go to visit my daughter out there? No? Okay.

Here's the Michigan mansion Matthew was forced to rough it out in:
