When you think of major movies, Michigan may not come to mind but as it turns out, there are quite a few horror flicks filmed right here in the Great Lakes State.

There are plenty of true-crime and paranormal stories here in Michigan but fictional ones we can watch play out on screen are even better.

Detroit was a popular spot for some major movies like the "Transformers" franchise as film tax incentives were put in place to bring in revenue from the big screen. However, there are plenty other, maybe more unexpected areas  you may not think to shoot a movie.

Did you know there was a scary movie filmed in 1959 almost entirely in Northern Michigan?

Or a comedic horror movie filmed completely in Pontiac?

Even big-name movies and some sequels in some of the biggest horror franchises were filmed right here in Michigan!

If you have seen even some of these movies, did you recognize any of the locations?

One of my personal favorites from the list is, honestly, the only one I saw in theaters was "Don't Breathe" though i was very glad it's dark in a theater because half the movie is in the dark and trying to watch it in daylight would be next-to impossible.

Anyways, if you have not seen any of these movies, hopefully we added some to your watch-list this Spooky Season!
