House plants have many good qualities about them. They can be received as gifts from friends and families to honor the memory of a love one that has passed. They can brighten up a room. They can also be very therapeutic. But when is it time to really quit trying?

Not everyone has a "green thumb." Some people can be the best person a plant could ever want. They feed it, play Mozart and whisper nice words to it and the plant keels over like it was bathed in Roundup!

And then there is the office plant (pictured). The lonely life of the office plant that sits quietly in the dark while everyone is gone for the weekend or the long holiday. No direct sunlight. Just the occasional ring of the telephone to sing it to a cold and lonely repose.

The sad life of an indoor plant.
