Multiple reports today, including this one from wilx.com, tell us that former state senator and Senate Minority Leader Gretchen Whitmer has been appointed as the Interim Prosecuting Attorney for Ingham County. The decision made by the 30th Circuit Court will take effect on July 2, 2016 when disgraced office holder Stuart Dunnings III officially resigns.

According to the WILX report, the 30th Circuit Court Judges voted unanimously to appoint Whitmer to the post. In November, voters will determine who the long term successor to Dunnings will be. Whitmer will serve through December 31, 2016.
