Macy's Department Store retail chain announced yesterday that they are closing 68 stores this year, including the Lansing Mall location on the west side of Lansing, which will put 57 workers out of a gig. Macy's stores in Battle Creek, Westland and Harper Woods will also close.

Sounds like the focus of the retailer's future will be better performing stores and online sales.

Also, the Lansing and Jackson Kmart stores will close this year, along with eight others across the state. The parent company will close 78 Kmart stores nationally.
