So many drive past the large, brown brick building on S. Cedar, known only as the "John Bean Building." Or, the Fire apparatus Division of FMC.

Since it closed in 1974, the activity has been somewhat minimal compared to it's heyday of producing everything from fire trucks and military vehicles in wartime. Several smaller businesses inhabit the expansive area now. All with various purposes.

While out on a recent "pick" (what us professional junk diggers call it) I happened upon some great photos and newsletters from the 40's, 50's and 60's. Having employed hundreds from the Lansing area, it's a nice look back at our friends and families as they machined their way into America's workforce and history.

Did you or someone you know ever work for FMC or at the John Bean Building? We would love to see your responses.
