At The Tone The Time Will Be………..Beep!

Earlier today someone had posed the question on Facebook, asking if anyone had remembered the number to "time" and if it still existed? Instantly, my mind went into rotary dial mode and I came up with (517)487-1212. So I dialed it and "lo and behold" it did! At least it gave me the time after a 3- second spot about diabetes.

Not only did it give me the time, but it gave me the temperature. Naturally, I got curious about the original time lady and whatever happened to her.

After finding several different voice actors of the era. The one that stuck out to me was Jane Barbe (Barbie). The lady who gave us the correct time, long before cell phones were a thing.

You could get the time every ten seconds with a tone to mark it's exact spot. Today, there's not much use for that.
