Believe it or not, Detroit is America's safest city...from natural disasters. Sure, you may get run over by a car not stopping for a red light. You might get carjacked. You might get shot. But, according to an article on mlive.com, home insurance companies find Motown to be the safest place in the country, in terms of likeliness of natural disasters. The criteria for the list is strictly based upon six categories of weather records from NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). Sure, life insurance companies might not favor Detroit, but your home is likely to be safe...evident by the decades of decaying homes that just won't crumble.

...and, just a side note, homeownersinsurance.com ranked San Francisco number 3. They may not have floods, tornadoes, and hurricanes. But, when I think of San Francisco, I think of the 1989 World Series...I think this list might be "a little shaky"...
