WILX.com is reporting that Ford Motor Company is recalling some 268,000 vehicles in North America. The recall targets doors that may not close, or that could open unexpectedly.

The affected models are 2014 and 2015 Ford Fiesta models, 2014 through 2016 Ford Fusions, and 2014 through 2016 Lincoln MKZ sedans. Most of the recalled models are in states susceptible to high temperatures.

According to the report, Ford  states that a lever within the door latch mechanism may crack and fail. When the lever fails, consumers may be able to get the problematic door to eventually latch. But, this could result in the door opening while driving.

Ford says there have been no reports of any crashes or injuries related to the defect.
