Former Spartan Dean Strampel Sentenced
Former Michigan State University dean of Osteopathic Medicine William Strampel was sentenced on Wednesday morning in Ingham County Circuit Court.
He got a year in jail for a pair of misdemeanors and 11 months for a felony which he was found guilty for earlier this year.
Strampel, you may remember, was found guilty of misconduct in office and willful neglect of duty after he was found to have used his power to proposition MSU medical students, as well as displaying "complete indifference" as to whether convicted former doctor Larry Nassar was following proper procedures after a complaint was filed five years ago against Nassar.
Strampel was found not guilty of second-degree CSC (criminal sexual conduct) this past spring, thus avoiding a longer jail sentence.
