High Wind Warnings/Advisories Across Much of Michigan
There's a High Wind Advisory in place through 7 PM today for Ingham, Eaton, Clinton, Jackson and beyond - most of us this side of the Lake Michigan shoreline will be affected. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reports here that mid-morning through mid-afternoon we'll see the worst of the windy conditions with sustained winds at 30-40 MPH, gusting to 60 MPH.
The National Weather Service says that the dangerously strong gusts may cause large tree limbs to fall and advises to keep your eyes peeled for limbs unexpectedly falling onto vehicles while driving. Aaaaannnnd, we may experience widespread power outages.
I'm already seeing a lot of posts on Facebook about downed trees. Our pal Gary Gierke, owner of Express Tree Services in Mason, called around 9:30 to let us know that they've been all over Greater Lansing already today to take their chainsaws to downed trees - he says they've even had big limbs fall on their work trucks while traveling secondary roads in Greater Lansing.
Safe travels!
