A Michigan man has made it into the Guinness Book of World Records - again. Dr. William Powers' cat holds the world record for being the world's tallest cat.

Fenrir is the Savannah cat that lands Powers in the record book for measuring 18.83 inches tall. Savannah cats are a hybrid breed that results from mating a domestic cat with an African serval. According to Guinness, the practice became popular in the 1990s and the Savannah cat became a recognized breed in 2001.

A Fur Four-Time Record Holder

This is the fourth time Powers has landed in the Guinness Book of World Records. The Farmington Hills doctor says Fenrir's brother Arcturus, held the title as Michigan's tallest cat, measuring in at 19.05 inches back in 2016. That cat perished in a house fire in 2017.

Another cat owned by Powers holds the record for having the longest tail. Altair, a Maine coon cat has a tail measuring 16.07 inches. One of Altair's siblings held the record previously. Cygnus, who also died in the aforementioned house fire had a tail that measured a whopping 17.58 inches long.

Meet Fenrir, the World's Tallest Cat

Powers introduces us to Fenrir in the video below. He says his nickname is 'The Big Chongus" or "The Chonk."

"He just grew and grew like Clifford the Big Red Dog," Powers jokes.

But Powers' conversation takes a serious turn as he describes the heartbreaking fire in 2017 that took two of his record-holding cats. He also credits the creatures with helping him find happiness once again as he mentally recovers from the ordeal.
